First up, we take a look at the best bets for Groups A and B and an enticing 25/1 fivefold!

Qatar VS Ecuador

Back Under 2.5 goals

As hosts, Qatar were not required to qualify for this year’s tournament, instead taking part in a series of friendly matches. Their form in these fixtures has been mixed with three wins, three draws and one defeat. Of those seven matches, only two have seen more than 2.5 goals scored.

Opponents Ecuador are on a remarkable run of seven consecutive clean sheets. The South American’s have shut out the likes of Japan, Mexico and Nigeria during that sequence and last conceded way back in March against Argentina.

Ecuador’s impressive defensive set-up, coupled with Qatar’s goal-shy attack suggests this tournament opener could be a low scoring affair.

Back Cody Gakpo to score +1.5 goals

The PSV Eindhoven winger has been making headlines this season with some fantastic displays in the Eredivisie and Europa League. The 23-year-old has netted 14 times in all competitions and is now wanted by some of the biggest clubs on the continent.

With the Dutch well fancied to top Group A against lower-ranked opponents, Gakpo should be given plenty of opportunities to add to the three goals he’s scored for his national team to date.

Senegal VS Netherlands

Back both teams to score
view details

This Group A encounter should be a cracker with both teams possessing brilliant attacking talents.

African Cup of Nations champions Senegal have only failed to score in 1 of their last 12 matches while the Netherlands have netted in each of their last 15 in all competitions.

The Dutch have becoming one of the most entertaining European nations to watch, with their last eight matches producing 28 goals. Louis van Gaal’s side have threats from all areas of the pitch, perfectly illustrated by the fact they have had nine different goalscorers in their last five outings.

Back both teams to find the net in this one at 21/20.

USA VS Wales

The current FIFA world rankings suggest this Group B clash could be a very close encounter; 16th-ranked USA versus 19th-ranked Wales.

Wales’ form has dropped off alarmingly since the start of the year, with Robert Page’s men winning just one of their last eight games in all competitions.

The US have been up and down themselves, drawing three of their last five and being held by the likes of El Salvador and Saudi Arabia.

We can see another stalemate here on Monday night, with both countries desperate to avoid defeat in their group opener.

World Cup Outrights:

Group B Winner

1/3
Back England to win Group B
view details

England’s tournament record under Gareth Southgate is impressive with 10 victories out of 14 games across World Cup 2018 and Euro 2020.

The Three Lions reached the Semi Final stage in Russia four years ago and will be expected to make the latter stages this time around as well. Recent form has been patchy, but the goalscoring firepower of Harry Kane, Raheem Sterling and co should see England come out on top in a competitive but less than daunting-looking Group B.

Back Southgate’s men to prevail against Wales, USA and Iran and finish first in the standings at 1/3.
