There’s another cracking day of action ahead at Ascot on Wednesday with a seven-race card.

The headliner is Los Angeles in the Prince Of Wales’s Stakes, who will be attempting to gain a fourth success at the highest level

We have a trio of horses to follow at Royal Ascot on Wednesday including a last-time-out winner who could be hard to pass once again.

It looks like a cracking renewal of the Prince Of Wales’s Stakes on Wednesday afternoon with a stellar line-up that deserves top billing but there’s a suspicion that the Irish raider, Los Angeles, is going to take some stopping in his bid for yet another Group 1 success.

This hardy performer really knuckled down to get the better of the classy White Birch on his reappearance run at the Curragh and he followed that up with another Group success at that venue in the Tattersalls Gold Cup, outbattling Anmaat in the finish, a proven Group 1 performer himself.

Those qualities are going to really help at this course with its stiff uphill finish and there’s every chance he’ll be able to obtain a prominent position in behind his pacemaker (Continuous) from stall five.

He also showed he handled this sort of ground when taking last year’s Great Voltiguer at York’s Ebor meeting and he’s hard to knock, so he looks like one of the stronger favourites on day two of this year’s Royal Ascot.

NEXT BEST:

Devil’s Advocate

Earlier on the card in the Queen’s Vase, Devil’s Advocate sets a solid standard on form. He has only a maiden win to his name so far and he didn’t handle the track at Epsom on his penultimate outing but his subsequent effort in the Dante looks worth upgrading.

He did best of the horses that raced prominently that day and his pedigree suggests there’s plenty of improvement to come now stepped up in distance.

That’s arguably the best form on offer in this contest and he ought to go well with top jockey William Buick taking over in the saddle.

LONG SHOT:

Ascot –
Secret Hideaway

Wed 18 June, 14:30

BET NOW

In Wednesday’s opening contest, Secret Hideaway appears to have been a little forgotten in the market.

Adrian Keatley’s filly shaped with plenty of promise in a Ripon novice and took her form to a new level when getting her first win on the board at York last time out in Listed company.

That looks like a strong piece of form on paper and it’s an effort worth upgrading given that she was held up off a fairly steady pace that day. She gave the impression that this stiffer test was going to suit and looks like the each-way play of the day with a high draw (18) also in this filly’s favour.
