US Open Mixed Doubles Preview – CopyBet
The final Grand Slam of 2025 approaches with the US Open at Flushing Meadows set to get underway later this month.
This year’s tournament features a remodelled mixed doubles competition that starts on Tuesday and is due to be concluded within 48 hours in the same week of pre-tournament singles qualifying matches.
That scheduling change frees up a host of star names from the men’s and women’s game to focus on doubles.
An elite field of 16 teams have been assembled by the organisers with well-established duos like Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori mixing it alongside scratch pairings like Emma Raducanu and Carlos Alcaraz.
Jannik Sinner is scheduled to team up with Katerina Siniakova but the Italian was forced to withdraw when 5-0 down against Alcaraz in the Cincinnati Open final on Monday, putting his participation in the mixed doubles in doubt.

Taylor Townsend teamed up with Ben Shelton in this event two years ago and made it all the way to the semi-finals.
Shelton was a relatively unknown teenager back then, but he is now established in the men’s singles top-10 and arrives in the form of his life.
He will be looking to rekindle the chemistry that took the American pairing to wins over the fourth and seventh seeded teams before they eventually lost out to the top seeded duo in the last four.
Townsend has been among the top-10 female doubles players on the planet for the past couple of years, rising to become the number one on the WTA Tour.
She reached the final of the 2024 US Open mixed doubles alongside Donald Young and could finally go one better this year with Shelton by her side again.

One pair who will have plenty of support in the mixed doubles is the American duo of Madison Keys and Frances Tiafoe, who have been drawn against the wildcard pair of Naomi Osaka and Gael Monfils.
Keys broke her Grand Slam singles duck at the Australian Open in January and she will be keen for success at her home Major, where she reached the final in 2017 and was also a semi-finalist in 2018 and 2023.
Tiafoe’s best runs in the slams have also come at Flushing Meadows, having twice reached the last-four stage in 2022 and 2024 while also getting to the quarters in 2023.
This American pair should combine nicely for the doubles, with Keys boasting a booming forehand and Tiafoe a solid all-round player who thrives for these kinds of moments in front of a packed home crowd.
Keys and Tiafoe can combine to give the New York something to cheer about before the singles begins for both the men and women.
