TRAVELERS CHAMPIONSHIP PREDICTIONS – Copybet

JJ Spaun was the only player to finish under par after 72 holes of last week’s US Open and the elite of the PGA Tour will be delighted to be confronted with a less taxing test at the Travelers Championship, which starts in Connecticut on Thursday.

Spaun is among the 72-player field who will be battling it out for the last signature event, where it is little surprise to see world number one Scottie Scheffler as hot favourite to come out on top.

The Texan claimed victory in a play-off at TPC River Highlands 12 months ago, but there are plenty of others who will fancy their chances of getting their hands on one of the tour’s bigger prizes.

Russell Henley to win
BET NOW

Tip 1: One of the pretenders who has already claimed a signature event this year is Russell Henley and this looks a good opportunity for him to put another one on his mantelpiece.

The Georgian triumphed at the Arnold Palmer Invitational in March, but that has not been an isolated instance of his excelling in the battles for big prizes after he was fifth at both the Pebble Beach Pro-Am and the Memorial, while his ninth at the RBC Heritage was another impressive showing.

Henley was 10th at Oakmont last week and recent history suggests players capable of putting up strong greens-in-regulation figures can excel at TPC River Highlands, so there is a lot to like about his chances.

Patrick Cantlay to win
BET NOW

Tip 2: Patrick Cantlay has not rewarded his backers with a win on the PGA Tour since August 2022, but this is one of his favourite venues and he is capable of making a strong impression this week.

He was a shot shy of making the cut last week, carding a decent 72 in the second round, and it is possible that the extra break may have been a boost while others were left toiling at Oakmont.

While a win has eluded him, Cantlay has still posted some strong signature-event finishes with a fifth at the Genesis Invitational, fourth at the Truist Championship and 12th at the Memorial.

And the long-awaited success could come here, where he has been in the top 15 in each of his last seven visits, finishing fourth in 2023 and fifth last year.

40/1
Daniel Berger to win
BET NOW

Tip 3: Daniel Berger could make some more progress this week after fighting his way up the world rankings following a troublesome back injury.

He made the weekend at Oakmont after missed cuts at the Charles Schwab Challenge and the Memorial, which followed some decent results, and he could recapture the River Highlands form that saw him finish fifth in 2016 before a play-off defeat to Jordan Spieth a year later.
