THURSDAY RACING TIPS AT ROYAL ASCOT – COPYBET

Royal Ascot is back with plenty of more top-class action on Thursday afternoon, including a quartet of Group races.

The Ascot Gold Cup is the big race of the day and Aidan O’Brien will be bidding to land yet another renewal.

We have picked out three horses to follow this Thursday, including a value play at an each-way price.

Ascot –
Trawlerman

Trawlerman doesn’t have the recently retired Kyprios to worry about this time and he looks capable of taking advantage in a below-par Ascot Gold Cup.

The Gosdens’ star stayer was beaten only a length by Kyprios in this race last season on his first attempt at this sort of distance and there’s an argument to say that’s the strongest form in this contest by some way.

There’s also the potential for an uncontested lead for this out-and-out front runner who is at his best when able to dominate his rivals and he got firmly back on track under such circumstances when bolting up at Sandown in the Henry II Stakes.

He’s a Group winner at the track already and looks like he’s been underestimated in the market.

NEXT BEST:

Ascot –
English Oak

Wathnan Racing appear to have singled out Thursday’s finale as a chance to enhance their fine strike-rate at Royal Ascot and English Oak has the strongest claims among their trio of runners.

This son of Wootton Bassett was remarkably well backed to win this contest last season when he became the fifth four-year-old on the spin to win the race and he has solid claims of going back-to-back, sitting just 1lb above his last winning handicap mark.

He’ll have his high-drawn owner-mate Holguin to set a strong gallop for him and this seven-furlong specialist also has a high draw in stall 27; it often pays to be drawn in the high numbers at this meeting, particularly on the straight track and in this race.

First-time cheekpieces are a potential source of improvement and he was never going to be suited by the return to a mile last time out. Given that the yard have made a strong start to the season, particularly with their classier horses, English Oak looks capable of getting back on track and gaining a fourth career success, with the likely fast conditions in his favour.

LONG SHOT:

Ascot –
Masai Moon

Thu 19 June, 15:05

BET NOW

Charlie Appleby has strong claims of landing a third King George V Stakes thanks to Masai Moon.

This son of Siyouni showed a really good attitude when battling back to win a novice at Nottingham last time out and there has to be a strong chance that he will be improving again for a step up in distance here.

He looks like a potential Group performer who could be too strong for this handicap and looks capable of taking advantage of an opening mark of 95.
