This Weekend's Irish National Hunt Tips at Navan
Noel Meades charge was an ultra-impressive winner of a maiden at Leopardstown last season before showing plenty guts and class in a Group 3 win at the Curragh. She was hotly fancied next time at Newmarket for the Group 1Fillies Mile, but I don't think she handled the track at all that day and was ultimately very disappointing.
I think she's a proper filly and will prove herself more than up to running and being competitive in 3yo group 1s this season and she rates a strong selection in this race at what is likely to be an attractive price!
A maiden winner over course and distance last season before a Group 3 success at the curragh on his very next start. He went on to run a blinder at Royal Ascot in the Coventry before two more cracking runs at Group 1 level when not beaten in both the Pheonix and Middle Park Stakes respectively.
To me at least he looks a class above his opposition here and despite giving weight and the inconsistent form of his stable I'm more than happy to have a punt on him in this company. I think he should take a lot of beating.
While St Faz is also an interesting runner and has a good draw to boot, I'm taking a punt on No Big Deal for Charles O'Brien and JP McManus. This horse has had four flat starts last year before turning his attention to the jumps and with a couple of runs under his belt in recent weeks he should be primed to the minute for this which is more than you can say for a lot of his rivals in this.
He's stepping up 3F in trip and his coming here on the back of a very eye-catching hurdles run from which the winner has won again since. He's drawn in the carpark, but I believe he has enough in hand to overcome the draw and with some big early prices likely to be floating around I expect to see plenty money for this horse, and he will no doubt go off significantly shorter in the market than many anticipate.
