Scottish Open Predictions – CopyBet
The final Major of 2025 is just a week away and some of the biggest names in golf will be looking for the perfect Open Championship preparation at this week’s Scottish Open.
World number one Scottie Scheffler and Masters champion Rory McIlroy will head to the Renaissance Club looking to go to Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland in tip-top form to battle it out for the Claret Jug.
However, they will face strong competition, not least from defending champion Robert MacIntyre, who claimed a memorable home victory in North Berwick 12 months ago.
Tip 1: While Scheffler predictably dominates the market and McIlroy claimed this prize two years ago, this could finally be the week that Tommy Fleetwood gets a monkey off his back.
The Southport swinger looked geared to finally break his PGA Tour duck at the Travelers Championship last month, only to be pipped to the post by US Ryder Cup captain Keegan Bradley.
It was a gut-wrenching experience for the Ryder Cup hero, but this could be just the environment when he bounces back as he was fourth here in 2022 and sixth in 2023.
While 41st spot at the US PGA Championship and missing the cut at the US Open were disappointments, his Stateside form has been solid as he was fourth at both the Charles Schwab Challenge and the Truist Championship, while also seventh at the RBC Heritage.
A two-week break after his TPC River Highlands disappointment should have recharged his batteries and he can bounce back in style this week.
Tip 2: Another British challenger who could make a big impact this week is Matthew Fitzpatrick, who looks to have got his act together recently after slipping down the rankings.
The former US Open champion from Sheffield split from caddie Billy Foster recently, but there have been signs of some decent form after he was eighth at the US PGA and followed those performances with 17th at the Travelers and then eighth last time out at the Rocket Classic.
He brings solid course form with second spot in 2021 and sixth in 2022, so it would not be a surprise if his resurgence continued.
Tip 3: Those looking for a potential outsider interest in this week’s tournament are pointed towards Brian Harman, who lifted the Claret Jug after a six-shot success at Royal Liverpool two years ago.
The lefty from Georgia was eighth in his most recent outing at the Travelers, knows what it is like to be in the winner’s circle this year after winning the Texas Open and has solid course-form figures of 12th and 21st.
