Stephen Harris’ Saturday Racing Tips at Kempton

Kempton – NOTABLE SPEECH

Charlie Appleby’s 3-y-o colt has been notably strong in the market for both career wins so far, looking a very smart prospect in winning twice over this course and distance. He now steps up in class back at Kempton on Saturday but remains open to plenty more improvement as he matures with racing experience.

William Buick will be looking to swoop late, and the better pace likely in this warmer contest should set things up ideally.

Andrew Balding has his team in blistering form as the flat season steps up a gear (six winners in the last fortnight at a 22pc strike rate), and his highly regarded filly is expected to be fully fit for her reappearance after 210 days on the sidelines.

She showed useful form when winning at Chester last August on soft ground and is open to plenty more improvement after just three career starts (with the booking of the excellent Oisin Murphy certainly increasing confidence).

LONG SHOT:

Kempton – STRONG POWER

Brian Ellisin does well every year with a relatively small team of horses from his northern base, and his 7-y-o sprinter seems sure to be primed for this valuable Saturday handicap after two sighters under negative rides in recent weeks. He has a good overall career strike rate, with six wins from 53 career starts, and five of those have come on a variety of all-weather surfaces.

The booking of Ben Robinson encourages support, and the strong early pace in this six-furlong sprint should tee things up nicely if he can find daylight in the closing stages.
