This mare is a model of consistency and a credit to George Boughey and his team. She takes her racing incredibly well and is as tough as they come. She probably lacks a bit of tactical speed over a sharp five furlongs at certain tracks, but Ascot is tailormade for her.

She ran fourth in this race last year, beaten by just a length-and-a-half, and I think she's even better since then. Picked up by John Magnier, Derek Smith and co at the sales last autumn, she won a Group 1 Meydan in April on her first start for the new owners. As solid as they come, and at about 9/2, she is an eachway bet to nothing for me.

This is a race Aidan O'Brien has won on multiple occasions, but I'm not going with the stable first string here, instead the second string with Wayne Lordan on board. I don’t think there's much between these two horses, but I believe the greater improvement will come from the son of Wootton Bassett.

He made a taking debut at Navan where he was slowly away before taking up the lead a furlong-and-a-half out and scooting clear to win in impressive fashion. He was the stable third string that day in the betting, so it’s clear that he was expected to improve plenty, both by the yard, and those looking at him in the ring.

It takes a smart horse for one of Aidan’s to win first time out as he leaves plenty to work on. If he has learned to break better from the stalls, and can get a position early, he has more than enough ability to make his presence felt here. Hopefully he won’t be far away.

This horse had some high-class form when with Andrew Balding last season and is a five-time winner on the level. He has had two runs for his new yard in May over hurdles at Down Royal and Ballinrobe, and having narrowly been touched off first time in that sphere, he made no mistake at the second attempt. He is fit from those couple of runs and in good form, getting his head in front for the first time since July last out. Chris Hayes takes the ride, and while the one negative is the draw over this sort of trip, hopefully that won’t be too much of an issue. He’s a huge price and is well worth a few quid each way at the prices.
