Raceolly's Ebor Festival Thursday Tips
Last year’s winning trainer currently has two entered for this event, but stable jockey Hector Crouch is already jocked up on Queen Of Mougins.
She has been shaping as though a step up to 7 furlongs could unlock a bit more, so it’s good to see the yard go down that route here, especially judged on her last start at Newmarket where it all happened a bit quick before her stamina kicked in late and she just failed to get up.
Just missed the frame in a Group 3 as a 2-year-old and bred to be very decent, she could easily make huge improvement upped in trip and off a decent pace.
Satin is a very interesting runner in this having made her return from a 306 day break last week when running a decent race, and she will improve a bundle for that effort here.
It’s also eye catching the yard has booked Ryan Moore for a rare ride with them in a race they won with a 4-year-old two years ago, and they’re only other runner over the last 10 years also placed.
It will be very interesting to see if the cheekpieces that saw her win at Leopardstown return here which I think they will.
This is a very competitive handicap with plenty of horses currently overpriced. The most interesting of which is Stone Solider, who’s recent run here after 158 days off has worked out very well, and the step up to a mile is well worth revisiting.
He was due to compete in a mile handicap here last month but got upset in the stalls and was withdrawn when a fancied 16/1 shot. He could do with the rain arriving this week to give him his best chance, but he’s worth a look at a massive price nonetheless.
