Premier League Matchday 35 preview – Copybet

With the title sealed by Liverpool last week and all three relegation places accounted for, you could be forgiven for thinking there is little to play for in Gameweek 35 of the Premier League season.

However, there is still an almighty battle for the European places unfolding and our tips for this weekend’s action focus on the matches which could have major implications on that race.

Manchester City’s clash with Wolves gets the action underway on Friday night, with another thrilling weekend of Premier League football in store.

Tip 1: After a disastrous few months threatened to hand them their worst season since Pep Guardiola’s first in England, Manchester City have steadied the ship in the Premier League and reached the FA Cup final.

Their poor campaign is ending on a high, with silverware a real possibility again, and they can jump up to third in the Premier League by beating Wolves on Friday.

They should have enough to secure three points, given they have beaten Aston Villa 2-1 and routed their FA Cup final opponents, Crystal Palace, 5-2 in their last two home games, but Wanderers can make life tough for their hosts.

Wolves have won their last six Premier League matches and have been completely transformed under Vitor Pereira.

With Matheus Cunha and Jorgen Strand Larsen in fine form they can pose a real threat to City, whose only clean sheet in six home games came against a Leicester side who have blanked in 10 of their last 11 matches.

Brighton vs Newcastle

Tip 2: Brighton kept their faint hopes of securing European football alive thanks to a dramatic 3-2 comeback victory over West Ham last Saturday, but they will need all of that attacking might to come to the fore if they are to beat Newcastle, who enter this round of fixtures sitting third.

Both teams will be eager to win in order to achieve their respective goals and, while that sort of pressure can often lead to cagey encounters, neither of these sides know the meaning of the word cagey.

Only Liverpool (80) and Manchester City (66) have netted more goals ahead of this round of fixtures than Newcastle’s 65, while Brighton’s 56 strikes means they are the second-highest scoring side sitting outside the top five.

Three of the Magpies’ last four matches and each of the Seagulls last three having gone over 3.5 goals and, with the same bet landing in two of the last four Premier League meetings between the pair, it would be no surprise to see the scoring tally soar on Sunday.

Chelsea vs Liverpool

Liverpool to beat Chelsea

Tip 3: Some may expect Liverpool to let their hair down with the title finally secured but, in reality, they will have known the crown was there for the taking weeks ago and they didn’t let up then, so why would they now?

Arne Slot’s relentless Reds proved that settling simply isn’t in their nature when routing Tottenham 5-1 to seal the title last Sunday, even though a draw would have sufficed.

Their victory lap begins with a trip to Stamford Bridge and, while Chelsea, who are embroiled in the six-team tussle for four remaining Champions League places, clearly have more to play for, the Blues are extremely hard to trust.

Chelsea’s narrow wins over Fulham and Everton do not do much to inspire backing them at 23/20 and, with this visit from the champions falling between the two legs of their Conference League semi-final, they could take their eye off the ball against a Liverpool side who have won eight of their last 11 matches.
