NFL: Week Eight preview – Copybet

Week 8 brings a fresh set of storylines as Lamar Jackson is expected to return at quarterback for the struggling Baltimore Ravens, a resurgent Kansas City look to maintain their momentum and the Denver Broncos bid to damage the Dallas Cowboys’ playoff hopes.

Chicago Bears vs Baltimore Ravens

Sun 26 Oct, 17:00

The Ravens desperately need a fully-fit Jackson to stop their season from spiralling into oblivion after four straight defeats left them at the foot of the AFC North.

If he can make an immediate impact after three weeks off with a hamstring issue then Baltimore could be in business again. The Ravens have scored 131 points in his four starts this season, including two 40+ outings.

Meanwhile, Chicago are riding a four-game win streak and average almost 27 points per game over the past month.

Caleb Williams remains capable of extraordinary performances, but a good sign for the Bears is that they were able to beat the New Orleans Saints without their quarterback having to don his superman cape.

Both teams can move the ball and score, and with Jackson back, expect fireworks at M&T Bank Stadium.

Dallas Cowboys vs Denver Broncos

Sun 26 Oct, 20:25

This Mile High matchup is another that could turn into a points bonanza between two on-song quarterbacks operating in very potent systems.

Dak Prescott may be playing the best football of his career right now. In his last four games, the Cowboys QB has thrown for 1,081 yards and hasn't had a passer rating under 124.8.

He just became the fourth quarterback in NFL history — alongside exalted company of Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers and Drew Brees — to throw at least three passing touchdowns and zero interceptions in four consecutive games.

It will be tougher to replicate those numbers against a top-three defence in Denver, but Dallas hung 40 points on a top-six unit in their tie with the Packers four weeks ago.

We saw what can happen when the Broncos are drawn into a shootout against a competent offense after they exploded for 33 points in the fourth quarter against the New York Giants on Sunday.

Bo Nix was able to cut loose like he used to do in college and the results were spectacular.

This week, he’s going up against a defence allowing over 400 yards per game and ranked dead-last in the NFL.

Green Bay Packers vs Pittsburgh Steelers

Mon 27 Oct, 00:20

Rodgers can become one of only five quarterbacks ever to beat all 32 NFL teams when he faces the Green Bay Packers for the first time in his career.

Coming off a loss against the Cincinnati Bengals, he and the Steelers will be trying to avoid consecutive defeats for the first time this season.

Green Bay must win to remain ahead of the Detroit Lions in the ultra-competitive NFC North, so there’s plenty at stake and history on the line.

Rodgers has already engineered one victory in a grudge match against former employers but this will be a tougher task than carving up the hapless New York Jets.

However, the Steelers are getting more than a field goal at home and Rodgers tends to write his own scripts.

Washington Commanders vs Kansas City Chiefs

Tue 28 Oct, 00:15

Kansas City are rolling again after a 31-0 win over the Las Vegas Raiders and now host a Commanders team that’s lost three of their last four games.

Patrick Mahomes has thrown six touchdown passes in his last two games, and Travis Kelce continues to dominate in the red zone.

They have won the race to 30 points in three of their last four games and should do again in front of a noisy Arrowhead Stadium crowd on Monday Night Football.

Washington’s defense has allowed 27+ points in two of their three road games this year, and they’ll struggle to contain KC’s vertical threats.
