Man City vs Tottenham 2/1 Bet Builder – Mark O’Haire
The Premier League weekend serves up a blockbuster on Saturday afternoon as Manchester City host Tottenham at The Etihad with both sides bidding to back-up impressive MD1 performances.
Man City reminded everyone why they have been the team to beat over the past decade. Pep Guardiola’s posse were sharp and ruthless in their opener, laying down an early marker at Molineux. The Citizens mix of control and attacking flair overwhelmed Wolves with a fully fit Erling Haaland at his clinical best leading the line.
Spurs, meanwhile, arrive with renewed confidence. Ange Postecoglou’s fearless front-foot football has been swapped for a more adaptable and pragmatic approach under Thomas Frank with early efforts against both PSG and Burnley providing supporters with encouragement. However, this remains one of the toughest away days in the division.
Match Result –
Man City win
Tottenham boast an impressive recent record at The Etihad, avoiding defeat in four of their past six Premier League trips to Man City, scoring at least twice in five of those fixtures. But with Spurs losing 47% of their top-flight away days over the past two campaigns, it’s difficult to see the North London side stopping the Citizens here.
Despite enduring a dreadful 2024/25 campaign, Man City still returned a strong W13-D2-L2 record when hosting EPL action against sides outside of the top two, and the January and summer signings have already made a positive impression on the group.
Both Teams to Score – Yes
Man City versus Spurs has a history of goals and I’m happy to support both sides scoring on Saturday. Thomas Frank’s Brentford team managed to get on the scoresheet in seven of their nine trips to top-half teams last term and with Mohammed Kudus and Richarlison impressing last weekend, Tottenham do have the tools to trouble City.
Fifteen of the previous 17 meetings in Manchester have produced at least three strikes, with Spurs scoring 12 times across their last four trips to The Etihad.
Team Cards – Each Team Over 0.5
Cards could be in the offing. Peter Bankes is in charge, and the arbiter flashed three or more bookings in 85% of last season’s league matches with the same hit-rate occurring for both teams collecting a card. Each side were cautioned in 16 of Man City’s 19 home league dates last term, whilst nine of the last 11 meetings here have followed suit.
