Newbury – INTO THE PARK

I'm looking forward to seeing Into the Park again on Saturday, and he looks to have strong claims.

This 5yo has been very progressive this season, finishing 3rd to Joyeuse at Taunton before winning his Maiden Hurdle here at Newbury in January by an impressive eight lengths eased down.

He's since won a Handicap back at Taunton off an opening mark of 120, but a 6lbs rise shouldn't be enough to stop him back in Novice Handicap company and stepping up in trip slightly to 2m3f - especially considering he was going to place behind Jasmin De Vaux in his 3m P2P. It's also worth noting he had plenty of Cheltenham Festival entries, so is clearly held in high regard.

Newbury – CREST OF FORTUNE

Anthony Honeyball won this lucrative prize last year, and he looks to have an unbelievable chance of going back-to-back with Crest of Fortune.

This half-brother to Aintree Bumper 5th Pour Les Filles is related to a talented family full of Bumper winners, and he is in the same ownership as last year’s 15 length winner Crest Of Glory. Unlikely last year's winner however, this lad has already had a start under rules - where at Wincanton in December he ran out a very ready winner over two subsequent winners despite running extremely green. That experience will benefit him greatly at Newbury, and he could take all the beating.

LONG SHOT:

Newbury – OOH BETTY

This Mares Novice Hurdle is always competitive, but it's the top weight Ooh Betty who interests me most this year.

This 6yo Mare has plenty of experience, but she really kicked on last May when twice beating subsequent Listed winner Manimole (120), and she's carried that form forward through the winter. An easy winner of a Mares Handicap in November, she returned to Lingfield in January and was a most unlucky 2nd to Aston Martini (121) - winning the race in the steward's room before losing it again upon appeal. Last time out, however, she contested a qualifier for this race and was very much given an easy time of things when finishing 2nd to Party Vibes (121) - a race where the winner was receiving 9lbs at the weights. This time around our selection will be 6lbs better off however, and Joe Anderson takes off a further 5lbs to help.
