A sizzling fivefold is on offer this weekend as Jack Wright looks at some crucial games around Europe!

West Bromwich vs Bristol City

West Brom tightened their grip on a play-off spot with a convincing come from behind 4-1 win at Huddersfield last weekend. Their first such win of the season will improve confidence still further.

The Baggies are now unbeaten in five games and have won six of their last seven at home. Bristol City snapped a four-game losing run in defeating Swansea on Sunday but were far from convincing. They are set for a return to losing ways at the Hawthorns.

Barnsley vs Cheltenham

Barnsley suffered a big shock on their last outing at Oakwell – thrashed 5-1 by an in-form Lincoln City. Neill Collins will be conscious to avoid too many more slip ups with automatic promotion still in sight but the play-offs far from assured.

This certainly represents a must win game with the relegation threatened visitors five points from safety. Only rock-bottom Carlisle have collected fewer than the Robins 12 points on the road this term.

Wrexham vs Tranmere Rovers

Wrexham to win

The best home record in League Two comes up against the second worst away record in a game which really should only have one outcome. Ante-post title favourites Wrexham seem to have gotten over an indifferent spell of form and are still right in the mix for automatic promotion.

That coincides with top-scorer and talisman Paul Mullin getting back amongst the goals. The Red Dragons will have too much firepower for a Tranmere side that have lost a league high 13 times on the road.

Manchester City vs Newcastle United

Manchester City extended their unbeaten run to 21 games across all competitions with a hard-earned draw at a difficult Anfield on Sunday. As Pep said himself it is difficult at the Etihad too! Something Newcastle know all about having lost their last nine visits by an aggregate scoreline of 31-3, failing to score in all the last five.

On the road things look bleak for Eddie Howe’s men. A 3-2 defeat to Chelsea on Monday was a 7th in their last 10 away league games, only Brentford have lost more. While no side has conceded more than their 26 goals across that same period.

Lens vs OGC Nice

Sat 16 Mar, 20:00

21/20
Lens to win
place a bet

Lens bagged an impressive win last weekend as they ended 2nd placed Brest’s 13-game unbeaten run. Les Sang et Or finished just a point behind PSG in last season’s Ligue 1 and their latest win moved them up to 5th in the standings this term but only four points off the runners up spot again. The table is also a little deceptive given Franck Haise saw his side lose four of their opening five matches and have lost only three of the following 20. Also winning six of their last eight at Stade Bollaert-Delelis.

In contrast Nice’s 13-game unbeaten start to the campaign is a distant memory having lost four of the last five. A midweek trip to face PSG in Paris for a Coupe de France quarter final is not ideal either and is the deciding factor in making Lens the pick to conclude the fivefold.
