Goodwood Festival Wednesday Tips – Dan James Racing

Goodwood – ZELAINA

Wed 30 July, 16:20

Zelaina, trained by K. R. Burke and owned by Wathnan Racing, is a high-class juvenile filly rated 92 and one of the standout entries for the 4:20 pm nursery handicap over seven furlongs at Goodwood.

She broke her maiden at Nottingham in early June, leading from the front and winning by 2¾ lengths as favourite under James Doyle on good ground. At Royal Ascot in the Queen Mary Stakes, she toughed it out and ran a gallant eighth of 23 over five furlongs on good to firm going, showing speed and stamina in equal measure.

Her form suggests she handles fast ground well and could relish the step up in trip to 7f. Drawn to attack at pace, Zelaina blends nascent Group-class ability with a strong nursery profile, she shapes as a leading contender in a competitive field.

Goodwood –
SING US A SONG

Wed 30 July, 13:20

Sing Us A Song, a three-year-old colt trained by Ralph Beckett and owned by Wathnan Racing, stands out in the 13:20 race at Glorious Goodwood. Sired by Camelot, he boasts a strong pedigree and enters off solid recent form. At Royal Ascot, he was runner‑up in a competitive handicap over 1m 4f on good firm ground despite a slow start demonstrating both class and stamina in a field of seasoned performers.

With an Official Rating of 92 and eight career starts under his belt, Sing Us A Song offers valuable race maturity over specialists in this contest. The ground is forecast to be good, suiting his proven ability to travel and finish strongly. Over this extended trip, he is likely to return to form and could capitalize on his consistency and finishing speed.

His combination of pedigree, recent competing level, and suitability to the race conditions makes Sing Us A Song a leading contender for the handicap—a persuasive win betting option.

Goodwood – JABAARA

Wed 30 July, 13:55

Jabaara is a progressive three‑year‑old filly trained by Roger Varian, known for her turn of foot and consistent form over seven furlongs. Earlier in the 2025 season, she scored a Listed victory in the Queen of Scots Stakes at Musselburgh, defeating Pinafore and Soprano with ease.

Last July, she looked set to win the Group 3 Oak Tree Stakes at Goodwood—bursting clear inside the final furlong. She crossed the line first as the 5/2 favourite, having previously finished runner‑up in the Falmouth Stakes at Newmarket. However, stewards controversially reversed the result, promoting Raqiya after ruling Jabaara caused interference in the closing stages.

Despite the disqualification, her performance confirmed her ability and suitability for seven furlongs on fast ground. With that early-season Listed success and creditable Group‑class performances, she arrives at Goodwood in 2025 as a filly to watch, offering excellent each‑way value in key fillies’ events.
