GOODWOOD FESTIVAL SATURDAY TIPS – Irish NH Tips

ISAAC NEWTON – Goodwood

This imposing son of Camelot made a lasting impression on me on debut at the Curragh only a couple of weeks ago when he finished a close second under Jack Cleary. He was beaten by just a nose that day by a more experienced stable mate of his who had been on the pace throughout, while this colt was the only horse to make any impression from the pace, and he did so under an educational ride and some tender handling.

I expect him to be a lot more streetwise and take a big step forward here. He gets Ryan Moore in the saddle today and has a favourable draw in stall four. He should be very difficult to beat.

AL AASY – Goodwood

This son of Sea The Stars is a multiple group race winner and the winner of this race last season. He’s a bit of an enigma. He can be very good but, equally, he can throw in a stinker, so he does come with a word of caution.

He is pretty ground versatile and stays well but he also has a touch of class. I’m hoping he puts his best foot forward and, if he can, he is easily the most talented horse in this race.

MASTER BUILDER – Goodwood

This horse has few miles on the clock this season and is an unexposed type with only nine lifetime starts. He was second on seasonal debut at Epsom before a fair fourth over course and distance in May. He has been off since but I’m more than happy to see him come here fresh on a nice mark and on ground that will suit him, while it may inconvenience others.

He’s a two-time winner already and I firmly believe there is more to come from this horse. He looks good each way and I can definitely see him being in the frame and if things fall right for him, he could just scoop the pot.
