FIFA Club World Cup Final predictions – CopyBet
Chelsea will take on Paris Saint-Germain in the first final of the revamped FIFA Club World Cup in New Jersey on Sunday and the French side are understandably the hot favourites to cap a sensational season with another trophy.
The French champions thrashed Inter Milan to win the Champions League for the first time in May and are now looking to take their first global title.
Chelsea finished fourth in the Premier League season and lifted the third-tier European trophy, the Conference League, so they have already exceeded expectations this summer and will be looking to upset the odds in the final.
Tip 1: Chelsea have benefited from a helpful draw to make the final of the FIFA Club World Cup, facing only one European team so far, but their excellent tournament is likely to end with a defeat to rampant Champions League winners PSG.
The French side have swatted away high-class opposition in the last two rounds, beating Bayern Munich 2-0 in the quarter-finals before thumping Real Madrid 4-0 in the semis, and it would be a huge disappointment for manager Luis Enrique if his side slip up against the Blues.
PSG have shown they are not invincible, losing 1-0 to Brazilian side Botafogo in their group, but they have grown more impressive as the tournament has gone on and their five wins have all come by at least two goals.
That sequence can continue in the final with star man Ousmane Dembele now back to full health and having scored in each of the last two games after missing the group stage due to injury.
Chelsea also slipped up in the group stage, losing 3-1 to Flamengo, but they have been efficient enough in getting past Benfica, Palmeiras and Flumenense in their knockout games.
Manager Enzo Maresca should be delighted with the progress his team have made at the finals, with recent signing Joao Pedro arriving in mid-tournament and impressing, but it's hard to see the Premier League team keeping PSG down.
Tip 2: PSG have scored four goals on their own in three of their six matches at this tournament and a relatively high-scoring final in the United States would be no surprise.
Unlike many tournament finals, the Club World Cup has a history of ending with an entertaining match. Manchester City beat Fluminense 4-0 in the 2023 final, while Real Madrid beat Al-Hilal 5-3 in 2022.
With PSG fielding a dangerous attacking line-up and Chelsea's squad packed with talented forward players, the recipe is there for a satisfying conclusion to the 32-team tournament.
The French side have scored 10 goals in their three knockout games despite facing giants of European football in their last two matches, and while PSG have not conceded since the group stage, Chelsea are yet to be shut out in this tournament and could contribute to a match tally of over 3.5 goals.
Tip 3: Dembele must have felt like he was missing the party in the group stage as PSG topped Group B without him being able to contribute but they have prospered since his return to action and he could score for a third consecutive match in the final.
Dembele put the icing on the cake of their quarter-final win over Bayern with an added-time goal after coming on as a sub and he was on the mark again in the semi-final, putting PSG 2-0 up after just nine minutes of their clash with Real Madrid.
Chelsea have conceded goals against Flamengo, Benfica and Palmeiras in this competition and could find Dembele hard to contain.
