Dubai Future Champions Festival. Day One – Copybet
Precise – Newmarket
Precise caused a bit of an upset when winning the Group 1 Moyglare Stud Stakes last time out. Although starting as the least fancied of Aidan O'Brien's three runners, she was prominent throughout and stayed on well in the final furlong to take a deserved victory.
There are a few question marks surrounding her coming into this, as this will be her first attempt at a mile and she takes on some of the best juvenile fillies around.
However, her performances at Goodwood and the Curragh suggest she will take to the Rowley Mile well and her run last time out suggests she will be fine with this step up in trip.
Mubasimah – Newmarket
By the legendary Frankel and out of Listed winner Mubtasimah, Mubasimah showed she had inherited some of her father’s traits by winning in style over this course and distance on debut two weeks ago.
She effectively led for the entire race and when asked for a bit extra in the closing stages, she pulled away well to leave her rivals trailing in her wake.
While she does not have the experience of some of her rivals, she looks to be a professional type and with a course and distance win to her name already, should go well again.
Aspect Island – Newmarket
While he had a difficult start to his racing career, Aspect Island has turned his fortunes around in his last two races and looks as though he could cause an upset at Newmarket.
He showed what he is capable of when finishing second in a Novice race on the all-weather at Kempton, where he was reeled in by the eventual winner inside the final furlong.
Aspect Island's next start at Yarmouth showcased his class as he made all in a stunning performance over six furlongs. The shorter distance and being allowed to set the early pace played into his strengths and he was able to pull clear in the closing stages.
While some more rain would benefit Aspect Island, the drop back to five furlongs may play into his hands if he can replicate his previous performance.
