Club World Cup Semi-Finals Preview – CopyBet

The Club World Cup has reached the last-four stage, and whatever the feeling was surrounding the tournament in the build up to it, the competition has delivered two cracking semi-finals.

Chelsea take on Fluminense at the MetLife Stadium on Tuesday, before Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid clash at the same venue the following day.

Tip 1: Chelsea are odds-on to beat Fluminense at the MetLife Stadium on Tuesday, but the 4/6 on offer still looks to hold some value.

The Blues needed a late strike to beat Palmeiras 2-1 in the quarter-finals, but the west Londoners were clearly the better side in that contest and Enzo Maresca’s men weren’t put under any real pressure by the Brazilians.

Palmeiras hit only two shots on target and created an expected goals tally of just 0.21, and while Chelsea left it late to grab the winning goal, it was not a taxing last-four tie.

The Blues had been taken to extra-time by Benfica at the last-16 stage prior to that, but had dominated that contest and won the shot count 22-8.

Maresca has made great use of his sizable squad and his roster rotation coupled with a kind run of fixtures should leave the Blues fresh in New Jersey.

It was all out defence for Fluminense in the final quarter of their quarter-final tie with Al-Hilal with the Saudi side winning the shot count 15-10 and corner count 12-4 in Orlando.

Tricolor will be without suspended duo Juan Freytes and Matheus Martinelli in New Jersey and that could leave the Brazilians a little short.

Former Chelsea defender Thiago Silva will marshall the Fluminense defence, but it’s a big ask for the 40-year-old to go again on such a short turnaround.

Chelsea appear to have plenty in their favour for this last-four clash and perhaps a little more than the 4/6 match betting suggests.

Tip 2: Two European heavyweights go head-to-head on Wednesday when Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain take on La Liga giants Real Madrid.

The Parisians get the better of a top-level Bayern Munich 2-0 in the semi-finals, with the relentless pressing of Luis Enrique’s men the standout for that contest.

However, it wasn’t without cost for PSG, who will be without suspended defensive duo Willian Pacho and Theo Hernandez in New Jersey.

Real Madrid defeated Borussia Dortmund 3-2 at the last-eight stage and were certainly good value for the success, even with the chaotic end that meant the scoreline didn’t truly reflect the Spaniards’ superiority.

Dean Huijsen’s red card means he will miss the semi-final and that could be a blow to Real’s sometimes fragile defence.

PSG have scored 27 goals in their last nine matches while Real have scored 11 in five games at the Club World Cup, so backing over 3.5 goals looks the way to go.
