Champions League Game Week 4 – Copybet
Five teams have made a perfect start going into Matchday 4 of the Champions League with Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich, Inter Milan, Arsenal and Real Madrid all having won their opening three games to share top spot with nine points.
At least one of those records will be ended this week though as PSG host Bayern in the French capital, while there is another heavyweight clash as 15-time winners Real Madrid travel to six-time champions Liverpool.
There are 18 cracking ties to consider across Tuesday and Wednesday and we have a trio of midweek tips for the action.
Tottenham vs Copenhagen
Tottenham’s woeful effort in a 1-0 defeat to Chelsea last weekend was greeted by boos by the fans and they make little appeal in the betting when Copenhagen head to north London on Tuesday night.
Certainly at 8/25, Tottenham look far too short to merit serious consideration. Spurs' expected goals figure of 0.05 against the Blues caught the headlines but the numbers are just as bad when extended out from Saturday.
Thomas Frank’s men have recorded only 17 shots on target in their last six Premier League games and only six in three European matches this term. Their attacking output is tepid at best, particularly at home, and that’s not the recipe for success for a long odds-on chance.
Backing Copenhagen and the draw in the double chance market is a much-preferred option.
PSG vs Bayern Munich
Bayern Munich have won 15 matches on the spin this season to perhaps suggest they could be the heir to PSG’s European crown.
Vincent Kompany’s side have started their Champions League campaign with a 3-1 victory over Chelsea and a 5-1 success in Pafos, while Club Brugge were crushed 4-0.
Bayern are a perfect nine wins from nine matches in the Bundesliga and their goal difference of +29 indicates just how strong Kompany’s men are.
Of course, PSG are the European champions, but they have won only three of their last six matches and were only narrow 1-0 winners over Nice at home at the weekend.
This is a clash between two of Europe’s best sides and Bayern look good value to come out on top in the French capital.
Club Brugge vs Barcelona
Barcelona are just about the most forward-thinking side in European football and Hansi Flick’s free-flowing team can serve up another high-scoring contest against Club Brugge.
The Spanish giants’ 13 matches in all competitions are averaging 3.85 goals per game so far this season and the Blaugrana don’t often take a backward step.
The three Champions League matches involving Barca have seen the net bulge 13 times and a trip to Brugge is likely to set up a contest of all-out attack.
The Belgian side have scored 27 times in nine home games this term and are not a side to be taken lightly, having thrashed Monaco 4-1 at the Jan Breydel Stadium in their league Phase opener.
Backing over 3.5 goals looks the best play on this week’s Champions League card.
