British Grand Prix Tips – CopyBet

The 2025 Formula 1 world championship season is providing plenty of entertainment and McLaren remain the team to beat as they head to their home race, the British Grand Prix at Silverstone on Sunday, July 6th.

Lando Norris supplied the team's eighth victory in 11 races this season in Austria on Sunday, leading home Oscar Piastri in a fourth one-two finish of the year.

The British driver's confidence appeared to be on the floor after his race-ending mistake in the previous round in Canada, but taking pole and claiming victory in Spielberg should have done his self-belief a power of good and the McLaren pair are joint-favourites for Silverstone glory.

There has been little between the duo on pace for much of the season, but Piastri's consistency, particularly in qualifying, has helped him to a 15-point lead in the standings.

Lewis Hamilton secured a record-extending ninth British Grand Prix win last year and he now has four more victories at the track than any other driver.

Lando Norris will arrive with renewed confidence after his Austrian success and he can eat into Oscar Piastri's championship lead again with his first home victory on Sunday.

The track features a dedicated Lando Stand for his followers to watch from for the first time this season and they could have plenty to cheer.

The British driver has finished ahead of Piastri in both qualifying and the race in each of the last two seasons, taking his first career second place at Silverstone in 2023, with Piastri fourth, while last year he was third in a tricky dry-wet race with the Australian again in fourth position.

George Russell and Mercedes faded as he had feared in hotter conditions in Austria, having become the fourth driver to win a race this season in Canada.

Cool and overcast conditions or rain could bring him into play for his own first Silverstone win, but he has a pretty miserable record in the race with his fifth place in 2023 being the only time he has even finished in the points.

Max Verstappen has just one win in the British Grand Prix, although he also won the 70th Anniversary Grand Prix at Silverstone when the circuit hosted two rounds of the 2020 season.

The world champion has not been happy with the performance of his Red Bull car in recent races and, while he had no chance when taken out by the Mercedes of Kimi Antonelli in Austria, he had left himself vulnerable by qualifying only seventh and now has just one win in the last eight races.

Ferrari achieved their best result of the season in Austria, with Charles Leclerc on the podium in third place and Lewis Hamilton matching his best result of the season in fourth.

With further updates to their cars expected in Silverstone after they took a small but noticeable step forward following changes to their cars' floor in Austria, the Italian team could be in the mix for the podium again in Great Britain.

Hamilton first caught the attention of many F1 fans when storming to victory in the GP2 race at Silverstone in 2006 and his wet-weather 2008 success at the track is one of the highlights of his historic career.

The seven-time world champion has an unrivalled record in his home race with nine wins and if his team have made any further progress, he can challenge for the podium.

His team-mate Leclerc also drives the track pretty well and has three podium finishes, but Hamilton could get an extra lift at Silverstone and is a slightly bigger price to finish third.
