World Cup Focus: England vs New Zealand Preview

England will face New Zealand for the first time since 1991 on Saturday evening, in the first of their two World Cup warm-up games. The venue of Raymond James Stadium in Florida will mean temperatures of over 30 degrees under the Tampa sun.

How quickly can England adapt to the conditions?

England vs New Zealand

Despite winning all of their eight World Cup qualifying matches and not conceding a goal in that time, England’s form in friendlies has been poor of late. Thomas Tuchel’s side have won just one of their last four friendly matches, although the experimental nature of March’s friendlies should now be behind them as England’s squad has been selected and is settling into its new surroundings.

Harry Kane, England’s record goalscorer by some distance, is 4/7 with CopyBet to score anytime. Meanwhile, with some members of the squad still being given time to gain full fitness after a gruelling domestic campaign (mainly Arsenal players still recovering from both Gabriel’s miss and the parade after party), Morgan Rogers will likely start in Florida and is 7/4 with CopyBet to score anytime.

While, as previously mentioned, England’s recent form in non-competitive matches has been ropey at best and getting used to the summer temperatures of America is unlikely to help matters. So CopyBet has priced New Zealand at 11/2 for the double chance of either winning or drawing the match.

Many will hope that football is coming home, but will it take a while to get the engine running?
