The Battle For Premier League Status

This weekend brings both the final day of the Premier League season and the Championship Playoff Final as the fight for Premier League status for next season heats up. We take a look at the matchups which will decide who is and who is not in the top flight next term.

Hull City vs Middlesbrough

After the already infamous ‘spygate’ controversy Southampton were kicked out of the playoff final and replaced by Middlesbrough, so they will now face Hull at Wembley in what is sometimes referred to as “The Richest Game in Football”.

Hull City, who beat Millwall over two legs in the semi-final stage, are 3/1 with Copybet to win over 90 minutes while Middlesbrough, who were in the running for automatic promotion for much of last season, are 77/100 with CopyBet to win over 90 minutes in what will be one of the most talked about playoff finals in years.

Tottenham vs Everton

Meanwhile, in the top flight, after their defeat to Chelsea midweek, Tottenham still need a point to finally secure their Premier League status in what has been an awful season for the club.

David Moyes’ Everton may be out of the running for European places but The Toffees have the 6th best away record in the league this season, so this will be a real test for a Spurs side who have not won at home in the league since the start of December.

West Ham vs Leeds

Six miles down the road, West Ham will be hoping to burst Spurs’ Premier League bubble and carry out what would be a famous final day survival mission. It’s a very simple assignment for The Hammers, they have to win and hope that Tottenham lose. West Ham are 5/6 to win the match and give themselves a chance of being in the Premier League next season.

Can they escape relegation?
