Six Nations Game Week Five rugby tips and predictions – Copybet
Rarely has so much been riding on all three games in the final round of a Six Nations Championship but that’s the treat rugby fans can look forward to on Super Saturday.
Here are our expert's best tips and predictions for the upcoming games at the Aviva Stadium, the Principality and the Stade de France.
Ireland vs Scotland
With the Triple Crown and potentially the 2026 Six Nations title up for grabs, a mouth-watering contest between Ireland and Scotland kick-starts Super Saturday in Dublin.
Ireland laboured to a 27-17 win over Wales at the Aviva Stadium last week but it was job done for Andy Farrell’s side, which kept them in the frame for a shot at the title.
Scotland go into this game on the back of arguably their greatest Six Nations performance of all time, as they scuppered French hopes of Grand Slam glory with a 50-40 win at Murrayfield.
Ireland have been Scotland’s bogey team for the last decade and Scottish head coach Gregor Townsend has never beaten the Irish during his time in the job.
The Irish will look to bring their physicality to this contest and try to slow down a Scottish backline that has cut through England and France in this tournament.
Scotland have the attacking threats to put up points at the Aviva Stadium and while the result looks to be too close to call, the Scots with a +5.5 handicap looks the way to go.
Wales vs Italy
It has already been an incredible Six Nations for Italy and the Azzurri will be going in search of their best finish in the tournament when they head to Wales.
Beating Scotland in monsoon conditions in Game Week One, Italy went on to push Ireland and France, before earning their first-ever win over England last weekend in Rome.
The Italians have been asked to go to the well so many times in this championship and the question is whether there will be any water left for the Azzurri?
Wales are winless in this tournament but they have shown signs of significant progress in the last two rounds.
Letting a win over Scotland slip through their fingers in Cardiff, Wales then gave Ireland a scare last time out in Dublin.
Backed by a passionate home crowd who will be desperate to see their side end their winless run in the Six Nations, a settled Wales team are the value bet to claim the victory at the Principality Stadium on Saturday.
France vs England
Billed as the potential Grand Slam decider before the tournament, neither France nor England can complete a clean sweep this season.
France suffered a setback at Murrayfield last weekend, as they were beaten in their own game of expansive rugby by an inspired Scotland side.
Things could not really get much worse for England after their 23-18 defeat in Rome but the majority of the same players have been given an opportunity to make amends on Saturday in Saint-Denis.
The key for England will be to stop France from making a fast start.
If the likes of Antoine Dupont and Matthieu Jalibert are given free rein in the Stade de France, it could be a long night for the English.
However, without the pressure of a favourites tag, this England side might feel more free to put on a performance in Paris.
Whether it will be enough to cause a major upset and hand Scotland or Ireland the title remains to be seen but England with the +15 handicap looks the value.
