Royal Ascot 2026 Day 4 Preview

As Royal Ascot's Day 4 approaches, CopyBet is reminding racing followers about its Best Odds Guaranteed offer on selected races, allowing them to back their favourite horse without having to wait until race day. With another exciting afternoon in prospect, let's take a closer look at the key races and leading contenders who could help shape a memorable fourth day of the meeting.

Commonwealth Cup – Royal Ascot

The Commonwealth Cup is a premier contest that deserves special attention on Day 4, as the race that gives elite three-year-old sprinters a major target before stepping into competition against older horses.

Venetian Sun

Among this year's leading contenders is Venetian Sun, a three-year-old filly who arrives at Royal Ascot with an increasingly impressive sprinting profile. Venetian Sun enjoyed a highly successful juvenile campaign, winning four races and concluding her campaign with a top-level success in the Group 1 Prix Morny, which established her as one of the best two-year-old sprinters of her generation.

Her three-year-old season has further strengthened that reputation. An ambitious attempt at a mile in the 1,000 Guineas at Newmarket failed to convince, with the filly unable to see out the trip. However, a return to six furlongs in the Sandy Lane Stakes immediately confirmed where her true strengths lie. Racing over the same distance as Friday's feature, Venetian Sun travelled strongly throughout before quickening decisively, to score in emphatic fashion.

Albert Einstein

If Venetian Sun arrives as the proven Group 1 performer, Albert Einstein brings a different kind of appeal to the Commonwealth Cup: the potential of a horse who may still have his best days ahead of him.

The Aidan O'Brien-trained colt was widely regarded as one of the most exciting two-year-olds in Europe last season, despite making only two racecourse appearances. His debut victory at Naas immediately caught the eye. He followed up later that month with another victory at the Curragh, this time over six furlongs, maintaining his unbeaten record and further enhancing his reputation. Importantly, that success came over the same trip he is set to tackle at Royal Ascot, providing evidence that the Commonwealth Cup distance should suit him well.

Coronation Stakes – Royal Ascot

The race's status as arguably the most coveted mile contest for three-year-old fillies is reinforced by its record £650,000 prize fund, which has risen dramatically in recent years.

Precise

This year's favourite is Precise, a three-year-old filly, the latest outstanding filly to emerge from Aidan O'Brien's Ballydoyle powerhouse. Already a dual Group 1 winner, Precise first announced herself as a top-class performer during her juvenile campaign when capturing the Moyglare Stud Stakes at the Curragh. That success established her among the leading two-year-old fillies in Europe, and she strengthened that reputation later in the season with a stylish victory in the Fillies' Mile at Newmarket. By the end of 2025, she had won four of her five starts and was widely regarded as one of the leading Classic prospects for the following season.

She won the Irish 1,000 Guineas at the Curragh, a performance widely regarded as the strongest Coronation Stakes trial of the spring. That explains why she heads the market and why it will take an exceptional filly to beat her.

True Love

A daughter of No Nay Never, True Love has been one of the standout performers of her generation since her juvenile days. Owned by the Coolmore partnership and trained by Aidan O'Brien, she has already built a résumé packed with elite-level success and enters the Coronation Stakes as the second favourite.

Few runners in this field can boast victories at Royal Ascot and multiple Group-race successes, while her Newmarket 1,000 Guineas victory remains one of the strongest pieces of form on offer. The market may currently favour Precise, who is the choice of stable jockey Ryan Moore.

King Edward VII Stakes – Royal Ascot

As Royal Ascot moves into the later stages of Friday's card, attention turns to one of the meeting's most important middle-distance contests, The King Edward VII Stakes. Often referred to as the "Ascot Derby", the Group 2 event has long provided a platform for three-year-old colts looking to establish themselves among the leading staying prospects of their generation.

Water To Wine

This year's King Edward VII Stakes favourite is Water To Wine, the unbeaten colt from the powerful John and Thady Gosden stable, who arrives at Royal Ascot with the potential to develop into a high-class performer. Although still relatively inexperienced, Water To Wine has done everything asked of him so far.

His path to Royal Ascot has not been entirely straightforward. Earlier in the spring, Water To Wine was expected to challenge himself in stronger company and had been pencilled in for a possible clash with leading contemporaries, including Benvenuto Cellini, in the Chester Vase. A setback through illness then prevented that plan from materialising and ultimately ended any hopes of a Derby campaign. Rather than rushing him, connections adopted a patient approach, allowing him to gain experience gradually before targeting Ascot.

The decision now appears to be paying dividends, with Water To Wine earning ambitious future entries, including consideration for the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe later in the season. Such lofty aspirations underline the regard in which he is held at Clarehaven.

Water To Wine may lack the résumé of some of the market leaders, but he arguably possesses one of the highest ceilings in the field.

Causeway

Unlike some of his rivals, Causeway has climbed steadily through the ranks rather than announcing himself with a single headline performance. It is also worth noting that three of his victories have come between seven furlongs and one mile, yet his pedigree and physique suggest he should thrive over longer distances. Described as a big, attractive colt, he has already shown the ability to handle a variety of ground conditions, winning on heavy, soft and good surfaces.

The challenge facing Causeway on Friday is obvious. This represents a significant rise in class from Listed company to a competitive Group 2, while the step up to nearly a mile and a half raises a new question regarding stamina. Yet it is precisely that unknown factor that makes him an intriguing contender.
