Premier League Game Week 27 football tips and predictions – Copybet
This weekend’s Premier League action gets underway with a trio of 3pm fixtures on Saturday before a TV double-header at the London Stadium and the Etihad, while Sunday’s fare culminates in a north London derby showdown between Tottenham and Arsenal. Manchester United’s trip to the Hill Dickinson Stadium to take on Everton concludes this round of fixtures on Monday night.
Aston Villa vs Leeds
It is hard not to be impressed by the dramatic turnaround of Leeds, whose only two defeats in their last 15 matches have come against Arsenal and Newcastle, and another positive result could be on the cards at Villa Park.
Leeds have earned draws at Liverpool and Chelsea since the start of the year and this looks a good time to be heading to Villa, who are looking light in midfield with Youri Tielemans, Boubacar Kamara and John McGinn sidelined.
Unai Emery’s side have won only two of their last six league matches and they have lost three of their last five at home, going down 1-0 to Everton and Brentford in the Premier League before last weekend’s 3-1 FA Cup fourth-round defeat to Newcastle.
Brentford vs Brighton
Keith Andrews continues to do an excellent job as Brentford boss and the Bees can build on a stellar season with a home victory over a beleaguered Brighton.
Brentford have lost only twice in 13 home league games, winning seven times, and they finished the stronger in the recent 1-1 draw with Arsenal, perhaps feeling aggrieved to have not taken all three points.
Andrews was able to rest his star men for the FA Cup win at Macclesfield last weekend, so they should be fresh and firing, whereas pressure is growing on Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler.
The Seagulls are winless in six and performances have been poor - they’re not creating a plethora of chances like they once did - and they have failed to win away in the Premier League since November.
This is a worrying time for Brighton, and Brentford, who are nine points above the Seagulls, can continue their strong record at home.
Manchester City vs Newcastle
Newcastle must be getting sick of the sight of Manchester City, having been knocked out by them in the EFL Cup semi-finals only to then get them in the FA Cup fifth round draw.
A 6-1 thrashing of Qarabag in the Champions League on Wednesday made it three away wins on the spin for Newcastle, but that 2,500-mile trip may have left its mark physically and City can capitalise.
The Citizens are hitting top stride, winning six of their last seven games, and five of those have been by two or more goals which includes a 3-1 home victory over the Magpies in the second leg of their EFL Cup semi-final.
City also won 2-0 away at St James Park in the opening leg in January and they should record another convincing victory over Eddie Howe’s men, who lost 4-0 in their league visit to the Etihad last season.
Tottenham Hotspur vs Arsenal
Arsenal need a response after Wednesday's 2-2 draw at Wolves has put Manchester City back firmly in the title race while north London rivals Tottenham will be keen to impress in their first match under Igor Tudor.
It must be of some concern that the Gunners blew a two-goal lead to draw with the Premier League’s bottom club in midweek and they have conceded in nine of their last 13 away games, which offers hope.
The problem is that Spurs are still extremely depleted - Cristian Romero’s suspension is a big blow - and they are unlikely to keep the Gunners at bay.
