Another mare expected to play a leading role is Danielle, the consistent five-year-old who has steadily established herself as a reliable performer in high-class fillies' and mares' races, with her best form coming over middle-distance and staying trips.

Danielle arrives with strong credentials thanks to her excellent effort in last year's Lillie Langtry Stakes, where she was beaten just three-quarters of a length by Waardah after finishing powerfully from off the pace. Held up in mid-division before making her challenge inside the final three furlongs, she closed all the way to the line, suggesting the demanding 1m6f at Goodwood suits her particularly well.

If the Lillie Langtry Stakes is a searching examination of stamina, the Stewards' Cup is a furious six-furlong dash that has become the flagship betting race of Glorious Goodwood. His latest success came in the Fitzdares Handicap over six furlongs in May, when he showed admirable determination to prevail by a short head as the favourite. That victory completed a course hat-trick and reinforced his reputation as a genuine Goodwood specialist. Unsurprisingly, Far Above Dream heads into this year's Stewards' Cup among the leading fancies.

No runner commands more respect in this year's Stewards' Cup than defending champion Two Tribes, who has become one of the most accomplished sprint handicappers in Britain after enjoying a breakthrough campaign in 2025, and he returns to Goodwood bidding to join the select group of horses to have won the race more than once.

Twelve months ago, Two Tribes produced one of the standout performances of the festival. Just a week after capturing a valuable 21-runner handicap at Ascot, he carried a 6lb penalty into the Stewards' Cup and still proved far too strong for his rivals. Racing prominently throughout, he swept to the front inside the final furlong before powering clear to score by 2¼ lengths, the biggest winning margin in the race since Khaadem in 2019. The victory earned him a career-best Racing Post Rating and confirmed him as one of the country's leading sprint handicappers.

Among the challengers hoping to upset the market leaders is Sondad, the progressive five-year-old bay gelding. He has steadily climbed the sprint handicap ranks thanks to a series of consistent performances over six furlongs and now arrives at Goodwood seeking the biggest victory of his career.

Sondad enjoyed a breakthrough campaign in 2025, highlighted by a career-best success in the JRA Tokyo Trophy Handicap at Epsom. Racing on soft ground, he showed plenty of determination to defeat a competitive field by three-quarters of a length, a performance that confirmed his development into a high-class handicap sprinter. Earlier in the season, he had also impressed at Ascot, producing a decisive 2¼-length victory in another competitive six-furlong handicap to advertise his ability on some of Britain's premier sprint tracks.
