FA Cup Fourth Round football tips and predictions – Copybet
The FA Cup fourth round takes centre stage this weekend with ties played across Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
There are plenty of intriguing ties, including an all-Premier League clash between Newcastle and Aston Villa.
Aston Villa vs Newcastle United
Aston Villa beat Newcastle 2-0 in a St James' Park Premier League contest last month, but the Magpies can turn the tables when they head to Villa Park in the FA Cup fourth round.
Eddie Howe’s side have been struggling for results, but they snapped a five-game winless run with a 2-1 victory at Tottenham on Tuesday night and the performances haven’t been as poor as the record suggests.
Certainly, if the Magpies perform at the level of their 1-1 Champions League draw at PSG they can trouble Villa.
The hosts picked up a big three points against Brighton on Wednesday night, but that victory came from only one shot on target and Unai Emery’s men continue to benefit from plenty of good fortune.
Villa have seen 11 of their last 13 victories come by a single-goal margin and that can’t be sustainable for too much longer.
Emery’s side have hit only four goals in their last six Premier League games and they look vulnerable to Newcastle on Saturday evening.
Norwich City vs West Bromwich Albion
An all-Championship clash between Norwich and West Brom isn’t the most glamorous fourth round tie, but it does offer a good betting opportunity.
A run of five victories in six second-tier games has seen the Canaries surge up the table to move clear of the relegation zone, while the Baggies have plummeted down the division and staying up is now the number one priority at the Hawthorns.
Albion dug in to hold Birmingham to a 0-0 draw at St Andrew’s on Tuesday night, but Blues had a goal ruled out in that contest and West Brom only had one shot on target.
Norwich are in much better shape at the minute and the Canaries should progress to the fifth round.
Arsenal vs Wigan Athletic
Premier League leaders Arsenal host League One strugglers Wigan on Sunday and there shouldn’t be a sniff of an upset at the Emirates.
The Gunners are perceived to be a pragmatic team, but the numbers suggest otherwise.
Before Thursday’s game at Brentford, Mikel Arteta’s men had scored 23 goals in their last nine outings and they have had no issue putting two, three or four past strong teams.
Arsenal beat Inter 3-1 at the San Siro, Leeds were crushed 4-0 at Elland Road and the Gunners have scored three in recent matches against Chelsea and Sunderland.
Wigan have allowed 14 goals in their last five games and there have to be huge concerns for a Latics side which was hammered 6-1 at Peterborough last weekend.
Arteta may make full use of his squad on Sunday, but the Gunners have the deepest roster in the Premier League and there is unlikely to be a huge drop off with Gabriel Jesus, Gabriel Martinelli and Eberechi Eze among the players in line for starts.
Take Arsenal to score at least four at home in what could be a mismatch on Sunday.
