EFL 7/1 Acca - Gab Sutton

A full fixture list from the EFL is back, and so is EFL pundit Gab Sutton to pick his treble for the weekend’s action!

Ipswich to win

Amassing 10 points from their last four games to move up to 7th, Ipswich are rapidly re-establishing their pre-season billing as strong promotion favourites, as Kieran McKenna begins to settle on a formula with which to move forward, following a disjointed opening month.

The Tractor Boys were ruthless in the 4-1 victory at Swansea with which they went into the international break, with Jack Taylor and Azor Matusiwa forging a formidable midfield pairing, Marcelino Nunez bringing quality from a more advanced role, and Jack Clarke starring out wide.

Town are starting to purr, making this one of the toughest fixtures of the season for Wrexham, although Phil Parkinson’s side have held their own on the road, only losing twice in seven, and are unbeaten in five in the league combined.

The hosts are superbly coached and could prove too strong.

Stevenage to win

Stevenage might only be 6th in the standings, but they’d be top of League One on points per game, with Alex Revell’s side having accrued 26 points from their first 13 matches.

The Boro have been imperious at home, with the 1-1 draw with fellow surprise packages Bradford being the first time in six that the Hertfordshire outfit have dropped points at the Lamex, and only the second time they conceded.

The same defensive rigidity on which they built their rise, infused with a touch more creativity, Stevenage have a really strong midfield pairing of Jordan Houghton and Harvey White, as well as a predatory goalscorer in Jamie Reid to come back into the XI.

With all that in mind, it’s somewhat surprising that the hosts aren’t shorter than 10/11 for all three points against a Doncaster side that have slumped from 2nd to 18th via a 10-game winless run.

Cheltenham to win

One of the biggest surprises on the English football coupon for this weekend is that Cheltenham are as big as 7/4 to beat Bristol Rovers at home.

Since their legendary, thrice-promotion and FA Trophy winning manager from the late ‘90s and early noughties, Steve Cotterill returned to Whaddon Road, the Robins have taken 10 points from six games and already look markedly improved.

True, that record includes back-to-back defeats, which they enter Saturday’s game off the back of, but Town produced a very competitive performance at Tranmere last time out, shading the territory for long spells at Prenton Park – and they have an in-form wide forward in Jordan Thomas, of whom there’s whispers of a new deal.

Whereas Bristol Rovers seem to be culturally on the floor and make the short jaunt to Gloucestershire off the back of six consecutive league defeats.
